This strategic integration has brought a vast new collection of vectors, icons, and templates to our platform. These high-quality design resources are now freely accessible, empowering users worldwide to enhance their creative projects without cost.

History

In February 2001, the ancestor of today’s FreeImages platform, Stock.xchng, was founded. It was a site created for users to share and download high-resolution photos, completely free of charge. This idea encouraged contributors to showcase their creative work and build visibility for their careers. Stock.xchng functioned as a hybrid between an image library and a social community. Registered users could create profiles, upload images, write blogs, and participate in forums for discussions and feedback. By 2009, Stock.xchng had reached over 2.5 million registered users—one million from the USA alone—and was hosting more than 400,000 photos. In 2014, the platform was rebranded as FreeImages. By 2021, the site had undergone major improvements and expanded its content significantly. In 2022, after merging with six illustration-focused websites—Clipart.me, Findicons, Vector.me, 365PSD, ClipartLogo, and VectorHQ—FreeImages incorporated a broad variety of graphic assets, including vectors, icons, templates, and other design resources, further enriching its content offering. In 2024, more than 10,000 AI-generated new contents were created and injected, continuing the platform’s evolution and commitment to creative diversity and innovation. Today, FreeImages continues to be a go-to platform for users to freely access and share creative assets. Available in 15 languages, it attracts millions of visitors from around the world.
